The Guardian Part 9: The Dawn-Breakers (1930-1932)

✻ ✻ ✻ SUMMARY OF THIS VIDEO ✻ ✻ ✻

In Part 9, which is almost entirely dedicated to Shoghi Effendi’s translation and re-creation of The Dawn-Breakers, we also cover several other topics. We start with the Guardian’s love for China, there is also a very moving story about the passing of Abu’l-Qásim Khurásání, a faithful gardnener and custodian of the International Archives. We look at two letters by Shoghi Effendi: The Goal of a New World Order to the Bahá’ís of the United States and Canada about the crumbling state of the old world order in the wake of the devastating crisis of 1929 and the Golden Age of the Cause of Bahá’u’lláh. A long section is devoted to letter-writing in the Formative Age, how Shohgi Effendi disrupted the genre of letter-writing, his style, technique, his form and content.

The section on the Dawn-Breakers delves in detail into Shoghi Effendi’s translation and his partnership with George Townshend, his re-creation of Nabil’s Narrative by adding chapters, an introduction, epilogues, a conclusion, hundreds of photographs, 300 pages of notes, a dedication to the Greatest Holy Leaf, many genealogies, facsimiles of original Tablets of the Báb to the letters of the Living, the publication of the book, and spectacular endorsements of The Dawn-Breakers from eminent professors, essayists, and orientalists.
