J. A. (Jack) McLean (b. Toronto, 1945) is an independent Bahá’í religion scholar, writer and poet living in Ottawa, Ontario. He has published 5 books in the fields of Bahá’í theology, spirituality, biography and some 30 academic articles on Bahá’í theology and philosophical theology. Two other books are about to be submitted for publication. In 2013, his 600 page literary critical and theological study of the writings of Shoghi Effendi, A Celestial Burning: A Selective Study of the Writings of Shoghi Effendi, won the distinguished scholarship award (book category) from the Association for Bahá’í Studies of North America.
