Announcement for Study Sessions on “Kitáb-i-Íqán”

We are excited to announce the restart of our study sessions on the “Kitáb-i-Íqán”, beginning the week of MLK Day in January. These sessions are designed to deepen our understanding of this foundational text and its profound teachings on revelation, manifestation, and the essence of the Day of Resurrection.

Schedule & Format

• Timing: We propose to hold these sessions in the evening on Sunday, accommodating various time zones: 10:00 PM EST, 9:00 PM CST, 8:00 PM MST, and 7:00 PM PST.
• Duration: The study will extend over 10 weeks with each session lasting approximately one hour. Prompt start times will be crucial for adherence to the schedule.

Study Material

The “Kitáb-i-Íqán”, described by Shoghi Effendi as second only in importance to the “Kitáb-i-Aqdas”, is central to understanding Baha’i doctrine. It offers insights into prophetic scripture, the concept of the Manifestation of God, and the believer’s journey from belief to certitude.

Syllabus Overview

To facilitate a structured study, we have outlined a syllabus for the first three sessions, focusing on Part I of the “Kitáb-i-Íqán”. Participants are encouraged to read specific segments and accompanying scriptures from the Qur’an and the Bible in preparation for discussions.

• Session 1: Begin through paragraph 32. Suggested reading: Surih of Hud (Qur’an), Matthew 24, and Luke 21 (New Testament).
• Session 2: Paragraphs 33 through 65. Suggested reading: Verses from the Qur’an cited in these pages.
• Session 3: Paragraphs 66 through 101. Suggested reading: Sections from the Qur’an, if possible.

Preparatory Question

Consider examples of opposition to the Baha’i Faith by clergy in 2024, beyond Iran, to discuss in our first session.

Recommendations

Participants are advised to acquire hard copies of the “Kitáb-i-Íqán” for note-taking and study. Possession of the Qur’an and the Bible is also recommended for comprehensive understanding.
